I'd like to take the time to thank members of the United States military, past and present, for their service and sacrifice

Brooks post an "On This Day" column on facebook, he mentioned this:

1918 - World War I came to an end when the Allies and Germany signed an armistice. This day became recognized as Veteran's Day in the United States. The war ended on the 11th minute of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. In many parts of the world people take a two-minute moment of silence at 11:00 a.m. as a sign of respect for the roughly 20 million people who died in the war.

World War One, though fought primarily in Europe, was the first global war. Many historians consider the Second World War just round two of the first, with a breathing spell in between. The peace treaty made after the first war was so vindictive that Winston Churchill predicted another war in twenty years.

1921 - The Tomb of the Unknowns was dedicated at Arlington Cemetery in Virginia by U.S. President Harding. Since then, unknown warriors from World War Two, Korea, and Vietnam have been placed at rest in the tomb. The soldiers guarding the tomb, walk 21 steps – honoring the 21 gun salute – turn and face the tomb for 21 seconds – turns to face the opposite way and changes his weapon to his outside shoulder, then repeats the steps until relieved. ...

Hi Brooks:

Your dad would tell you, support from family members like you is very important for all service men & women.

Veterans Day is today, Nov. 11, 2009, so I'd like to take the time to thank members of the United States military, past and present, for their service and sacrifice, you are in our thoughts! .
To all my current and former Brothers and Sisters at Arms, I hope you all had a happy Veterans Day. Hopefully you got to spend it with those you love or doing something you enjoy.

Please take a Moment to Think About What Veterans Have Done

Remember that they fought for our freedom

Happy Veteran's Day

Great picture, Chris.  I remember that game against Jefferson.  Billy McGill was the biggest player I had ever seen.  At least, you had a great life in basketball.    Barry Phipps

140 Ways to Change the World

Doing something nice for someone can change the world.  Maybe not the whole world, but their world. Start small.  Start now. 1.Smile when you make eye contact with someone. 2.Hold the door open for the person behind you. 3.Send a hand-written thank you card to someone who assisted you with something. 4.Clean out all your old clothes and donate them to someone in need. 5.Give a compliment about a waiter, waitress, sales clerk, etc. to his or her manager.  Or write a nice note to or about your…See More
