I was confused when I saw the letter. I was surprised it was sent to the website, but I see it was just forwarded on to the group. I understand the reason behind the whole movement, but I also see that causing havoc within the area of local businesses is not helping matters.

@Harriette, I've addressed this in a prior comment, please read my note below. Thank you for replying. I personally forwarded it because it was sent to us. I do feel the NON political aspect is the financial impact this has on our City which affects everyone in the school, students, faculty and staff.

why ws this sent to all of us? we should not be a political platform for anyone. we should be Hollywood

High Alumnae sending out info on HHS activities.

I have posted your the Mayors letter on Facebook. It is supportive of the movement, and the movement needs that support. They can't stay in parks and tents forever. Its not safe or healthy. The Mayor's letter respects that they are speaking for so many Americans who have lost so much in the last couple of years. It is not about lazy people looking for a handout, it is about our children's and grandchildren's future. It is about the growth of many, and equal distribution for equal effort.

Thanks @Terry, I appreciate this wonderful social media opportunity! It's exciting to me that discussions are starting on any subject! I'm not sure why we receive these things but we did get a copy of it!

Perfectly reasonable response from the mayor...but, Chris, why do you think it was sent to us???..I'm curious, as is Krista...Terry

@Krista, the economic and social impact of allocating so many resources to cope with this is enormous. We have alums on both sides of the issue involved and there are financial consequences to the city that will trickle down to the future funds available to other programs. Imagine the OT on the police department having to be committed to this. Would those funds be better utilized helping our students, our school and some other improvements project? I see your point of course. I personally feel it's very relevant to our students and alums. Imagine almost 30 years ago there was a study to consider selling our school's property to developers.

I agree with the mayor...the point has been made....just lying shanty town encampments eventually becomes a nuisance without solving anything.

But beyond this is the hard truth that there's not much the occupy crowd can do against international capitalism whioh will protect itself against such a movement. Politicians may give lip service to the cause, but there's little they can do since America no longer controls its destiny...or to out it more bluntly...this country has shot its wad...live with it..,check out www,uddebtclock.org and www,hard-truths.blogspot.com

"Thoroughly Modern Millie" is Thoroughly Amazing!

The 1967 American musical film starring legendary Julie Andrews was adapted to the stage and the Hollywood High School's opening night yesterday was nothing short of amazing and I've seen many Broadway plays. This was good, really and truly great actually. Except for the fact that middle-aged characters were being portrayed by…See More
