I entered HHS in W 1943...the war was two years along. Many of the upper classmen were either moving into college or the military upon graduation.
Being fortunate enough to qualify, the swimming team accepted me and I swam with the great Gordon Porter, a senior, while I was still a scrub....he was latter killed, serving in the army. There were so many fine teachers, coaches and students and it was truly an honor being enrolled.
Some notable classmates were "Jim Garner" (stage name) and Richard Long and Nina Blanchard of the modeling agency.
Louis Foley was Principal.
My stay was only a year and a half as I left for the Navy after B11. I served in the So. Pacific.
